I'd wait until the Autumn and see what we get!

I don't think anyone could seriously answer your question at this early stage

According to this, yes. It will be fully compatible.
How similar will it be to the PC version? Can you open the same projects? Will it come with the same bundle of plug-ins?

"It should work identically to the PC version of SONAR, because both the Mac and PC versions use the same code. This also means 100% project file compatibility. The first free alpha version will include a subset of Cakewalk plug-ins and modules for the ProChannel, our critically acclaimed, per-track proprietary modular channel strip. It resembles an analog console and includes effects like Console Emulation of three vintage consoles, QuadCurve EQ with four modes that simulate classic console strip EQs as well as a fly-out spectrum analyzer, tube distortion, and compression including a “4K” compressor on every bus. Other DAWs let you configure how a mixer looks; SONAR lets you configure the actual mixer architecture."

Hi all,

Yes! Sessions are compatible cross-platform with the usual caveats that accompany that sort of compatibility, namely that you have the the same plug-ins and what have you. I've done some recording on the OS X side and edited it on the Windows side and vice versa.

Will the Mac version always support VST2/3 plugins, or will we have to switch to AU when that becomes available?

I find the Mac version of Sonar works better than the PC version when recording Beatles songs>> is this because of Apple records?

PS:  use  folders and the CWP there's no need to use a bundle. Just make a folder for each song so the audio file and CWP are stored together.

I expect once Sonar Mac with VST plugin support is out there will be a long thread on this.   I am looking forward to trying to bring over some big completed projects to Mac from the Sonar 4 era  that I haven't looked at in years.  Luckily, I used mostly UAD and Waves plugins which, of course, are cross platform and are still made.

The question for me is what is going to show on Sonar Mac for plugins that don't have OSX equivalents.  Old great freebies like Bionic Delays or the Kjaurhaus (sp?) plugs.  I don't know if it is possible but it would be nice if you could see a snapshot of the settings on the plugin (via a generic interface or the like) so you could pull up a replacement plugin and try to get the comparable settings in the same ballpark as starting point.

I think it's a bit too early to tell on that front, but we'll be using the Alpha period to collect as much feedback as we possibly can. As we've said, we're listening!
