Hi everyone. I hope all is well. I was wondering if there are any really good amp simulator vst that are free or inexpensive. I record guitar direct in and want it to sound like a real amp guitar recording.

I don't know if they're good, but Voxengo has a good reputation here and they have at least 2 amp sims on this page:

Remind us of what software you're using; most versions of MC include at least 1 amp sim.

Freeamp is pretty good. I believe FA3 is the current version of it. It's free and has some good amps and effects.

Maybe Im thinking about a Cab simulator. are there any good ones?

try the Acme bar gig amp sim....

I'm not a big sim fan... I prefer a hardware solution for guitar.

From the looks of this site, they have cab and mic simulations  and more stuff coming. 

I believe one of the folks involved in this company is a regular here in some other forums.

now, would I be able to plug directly in with my pedal. I was doing this before and found a distortion I enjoy. I just dont want it to sound fake or digital I guess. I like the sound though. I have a digitech effects pedal. mainly distortion I am worried about. I can use the chorus and flange,reverb or what ever included with mc4.

the simulators have nothing to do with the input signal, so you can plug your FX pedal into the soundcard just like before.
