Hi all,

I always wanted a V Studio 700, could never afford it, had a V Studio 20 for years now.

Now I'm looking again and, as you all probably know, it's been discontinued. Can't find anyone selling one anywhere (I live in the UK)

So.... what's out there that can do the same, or similar, job?

I use Sonar X3 on Windows 7 if that helps?

Thanks

I don't think there is anything that integrates as deeply with Sonar as the VS700. So if you want to get close to the mixing console feeling with quick access to EQ and plugs, you should keep an eye on ebay until eventually a VS700 turns up. I still use mine heavily and currently would not trade it for anything that is out there (in the same price gap)

Apart from that you could probably stack 2 Behringer x-touch, but that would only give you limited Mackie Control options ... which you could possibly extend creatively if you are in for your own custom solution using Alexey's controller utility (check www.azslow.com)

Getting anything else Faderport 8, original Mackie units, etc. will put you in the same boat as going with the Behringers ...

so to cut a long story short - controller dont sell well, that's why there are not many options out there ...

Thanks, I suspected as much, I'll keep looking. It does beg the question, why did they discontinue them?

Because there were undisclosed issues between Roland and Cakewalk. If you've seen my other posts on the VS700, you'd know my opinion on Roland and no surprise that Cakewalk is doing so much better without them so that solidifies my opinion of them in my mind.

Thanks TerraSin. I've read your posts and it makes sense I guess. It's a shame because I always looked to get a VS700 'one day'.

Craig Anderton, the dude that posts all of cool info here.  He has a V700 system for sale as advertised in his sig.  There is no place I would trust more when buying a piece of used gear.
