  • Project Doesn't Load Audio Files

The project opens, but it's not "finding" the audio.  All the audio is in the folder, and there are no error messages ... so the program thinks everything is fine.

Any suggestions towards correction or explanation of the behavior?

I'm at 8.5 PE.

Thanks!

What format was the project saved in? .CWP?

Go to the Options / global and check your file pathways.
Or go to the folder where the data is stored and open the CWP file by double clicking on it, its the grey icon. If it works just do a save as and put it where it belongs.

Yes, Dave ... the file in question is a .cwp file.

Johnny -- the .cwp file and the audio data are in the same master folder. Is there another cwp file in w/ the audio data? I'm not certain what you meant.

Thanks!

I remembered something I did that may be part of the problem, for I'm getting odd behavior out of the whole system now.

My Superior Drummer launches, but won't load the sound files either. Remapping right to the sounds gets recognized by the plug, but then nothing happens.

I swapped two of the smaller data drives (No programs on the drives, only data for programs) recently for two 500G drives via a straight copy. I set up the system the same afterwards and figured "done".

Everything looked fine following, but now I wonder.

I just recently did a re install of XP that cleared out all the ghosts from mucking around with drivers. Cakewalk puts everything in the Cakewalks Project folder. If you copy that to a back up drive everything should be in there. Unless you have used the "file" option in Global to change a pathway.
I had been recording using a partition of my 500 gig drive so had directed audio there ( drive E ) I was informed that a partition will not do you any good. so when I re installed OS I deleted the partition. Once done I transferred all the files into drive C Cakewalk folder. If I tried to open project from with in sonar it didnt work, The files were there but the pathways were probably looking for drive E. To get them back all I did was go to the folder with Explorer  open the file by double clicking the cwp icon from within the folder. I think you have a similar problem with missing pathway info.

Agreed ...

And I just did what you suggested and no luck.

There's a disconnect w/ the audio files.

Is there a way to reconnect audio files to the project or specifically point a project to it's audio files?

Just ran a "Clean Audio Folder" ... and yep, Sonar believes the files are no longer connected to a Cakewalk project.

How do I fix that?

Found the Audio Finder tool ... hopefully that will work.

Are you sure you have your audio files? They will be in the audio folder within the song project file and they will be named Wave files. The cwp sits outside the audio folder. At least on mine thats the way they are.
