Is there any way to save the 'snap' resolution setting within a ScreenSet?

I use screensets to flip between track view (for moving clips around) and piano roll view (for editing midi notes). Typically I want snap set to 'Whole' in track view, and 1/16th (or similar) in piano roll view.

Is there anyway to achieve this? (I'm using X3)

Thanks
Paul

You can do this easily. Snap settings in PRV are separate from those in Track View (apart from the fact that TV snap needs to be in the "on" position to for snap to be on in PVR).

Snap is independent of screensets.

The track view honors the global snap resolution set in the snap module in the Control Bar. The PRV has a PRV-specific snap setting that's independent of the global snap setting if enabled. These settings are global across screensets, but if you just need two different settings in the two views that should give you what you're after.

Also, I believe X3 has the 'secondary snap' setting that lets you alternate between two settings for global snap:

From the Ref Guide:

- By default, SONAR uses the global Snap to Grid settings when snap is enabled. However, you can also specify a
secondary Snap to Grid resolution that is in effect when holding down the N key.
-To assign the secondary Snap to Grid settings, hold down the N key while selecting the desired snap settings in
the Control Bar’s Snap module.
- To momentarily apply the secondary Snap to Grid resolution, hold down the N key while dragging or editing data
that is snapping to the grid. When the N key is released, the main global snap settings are restored.
- To swap the primary and secondary Snap to Grid settings, press CTRL+SHIFT+N.

Note: To enable/disable Snap to Grid, press the N key quickly. To assign or use the secondary Snap to Grid
resolution, keep the N key pressed.

Thanks both!
I never would have found the icon (top right of piano roll view) to set the specific Snap for that view without being told about it - exactly what I was looking for!
The option for a secondary snap setting also looks useful - I'll experiment with that also!

Thanks again!

there is also a very cool feature (added in X2 I believe) called "Last touched".
It remembers the snap value and velocity levels of the last note you touched in the PRV.

This is great for drums as some velocity's vary (hi hats with a humanized feel / from 0-127) This way your not having to set each note for different velocity's.
Last touched also is great for piano parts as you can drag each note to the length you choose.
