  • Is the LP MB the replacement for LP 64 MB?

I have the LP 64 on almost every project. Yesterday I uninstalled my 2014 version of Professional. I never use it. But Now LP 64 Multi Band is missing. I didn't think uninstalling a older version would remove plug ins. Everything else is there. I reluctantly updated Platinum to 22.12.0 to see if it would fix this. But I guess LP 64 MB is history right?

You can reinstall your version of Professional 2014 (I guess X2 or X3?), choose custom install and install the LP 64 if you miss it. LP MB kind of replaces it in spirit, but not automatically in projects where you've used it.

There is no option for custom install anymore. It's all or nothing.
It's a big pita because I had a very exacting pre set and I'll be guessing with the new version.
I can do a custom install of x3( I think)  and I just might try that.

I'm pretty sure that it's in one of the additional D/L packages, over and above the basic Sonar install. Have a look at the contents via the Command Center and you should be able to spot it.

From my perspective, it definitely shadows the old one.

I got it back by installing X3. I unchecked everything but the program and LP 64 MB.

That's what I said, glad you got it working again!

I went back to 8.5, X2, X3, etc, to dig stuff up, and found that I didn't even need to install the program.  Just select the plugs you need, and that's all the installer will put back on your computer.

I keep the old installers archived on an external drive just for this purpose.  Plus I still have the original disks for Sonar 6 and 8, as well as Project5.

It's always a crapshoot to uninstall an older version of Sonar, because it may remove something your projects depend on.  Better to just leave it alone, since the program really doesn't take up much hard drive space.

It would be nice in your case, though, if Sonar was smart enough to replace the LP 64 with the LP MB. Or for any Cake plugin that was replaced by another Cake plug.  Or at least prompt "do you want to use this newer plug instead?".

They did this when the (Sonitus) channel EQ changed to the QC I think.
