Hi Guys, I have been running Sonar (currently x3) and a MAUDIO 192 with great success for years. I recently purchased an Allen & Heath zed10 (has USB output), which has such a beautiful sound for the price. 
 
Heres where the Sonar issue is. If I record guitar using a basic windows recording app like voice recorder, it perfectly records the zed10 using usb output and sound amazing same with the maudio 192. When I go into sonar, it has serious latency on the usb audio, the MAUDIO 192 sound fine). The usb input makes robot sounds and delays while playing. I know it works as mentioned above. Its got to be a setting as both audio devices work perfectly outside of sonar.
 
I get the error The default audio is not compatible with one or more sound cards and has reverted back to 44khz.
Audio drops out with latency at 
 
I just want the robot noise to stop, have low latency recording and play back through my MAUDIO 192, whilst recording through usb out on my zed 10 mixer. 
 
Any help appreciated.

Which driver mode are you using in Sonar?

The ASIO specification only allows one active interface, unless the interface driver specifically supports multiple interfaces at the same time. Very few do (RME is one) and the manufacturers that do only support using their own interfaces for the obvious reason that a manufacturer isn't in a position practically or legally to write a driver for a competitor's product.

Use two devices from different manufacturers at the same time and you've no chance at all of getting ASIO working. Other driver modes may or may not work, and the chances of getting the latency between the two lined up so it's the same are very, very low. You may well also run into problems with synchronising Sonar and the two interface's clocks which is quite likely to make all kimds of strange noises.

Allen and Heath is typical of most mixers that include USB to record board mixes. They are not a real audio interfaces because they use generic USB codex. They are fine for recording a stereo board mix of a live performance. For Sonar if yours is up to date and on W10 you can now use WASAPI exclusive driver.  But you will be compromising your M audio by using inferior drivers. 
Its not advisable to attempt overdubbing tracks with anything but ASIO mode unless you adjust your timing offset. Only good ASIO drivers report latency properly to Sonar.  
 
The exception to mixers with stereo USB that actually work is Yamaha which uses Steinberg ASIO drivers. It is a proper audio interface. But you cannot run it at the same time as your Audio interface unless you switch to Wasapi or WDM mode. Fine for recording a live band,,, not good for overdubs.   

Thanks for the advice guys. So is there any mixer (pref allen and heath) that will allow me to work simultaneously with my MAUDIO 192 using WDM mode? 
Im only interested in tracking 1 track at a time, so maybe one with just a SPDIF out and not usb?

The rca outputs between the mixer and MAUDIO192 have some noise, the usb eliminates this, I enjoy the sound of the preamps and having all instruments plugged in ready to go for tracking. so I want to track one instrument at a time digitally (instead of going straight to my soundcard) and use the MAUDIO192 as playback only.

At the moment Im using SPDIF out on my PODHD500 pedal board and its sounds awesome (without solid preamps), just a lot of chopping and changing.
 
Perhaps there is a usb to spdif converter.. converting usb output from the mixer to spdif input and I could just use asio for in and out (that would do the trick)
