* If my GT-100 is on and connected (via USB) and I launch Sonar, the system crashes requiring a reboot.
* If I unplug the USB or turn the GT-100 off, Sonar loads fine. - (In that case I can turn on or plug in the GT-100 and Sonar will ask if I want to use it, I say no, and all seems to work fine.)
 
My question:  Is there a way to tell Sonar to never load that device, thereby omitting the on/off routine when I load Sonar?

Hi. You should be able to uncheck it in Preferences, Audio, Devices. I do this with my POD HD 500.

For the GT-100 to be on that list it has to be connected.  If it's connected while Sonar is loaded it crashes the system.  So I have to turn it off, then load Sonar, then turn it back on and when Sonar detects it and asks if I what to use it, I have to say no (or it will crash).  Having said no, I can work in Sonar with the GT-100 kept off.  I have to go through this every time and that's what I'm looking to avoid.

The one thing I don't understand is if you don't want it to load, couldn't you just keep it disconnected? Or is the issue that you can't load it on boot, but you might want to use it later? I'm assuming the latter, so here's what I'd suggest.
 
1. I noticed there are new drivers and revs on the Roland site. Make sure you have the latest, and also that you follow Roland's installation instructions to the letter. If they say spin around three times while hitting Ctrl+J and yelling "bleeple bleeple," do it.
2. Try plugging into a different USB port.
3. Delete the Aud.ini file. With the GT100 disconnected, restart your computer, and let SONAR build a new list of interfaces without it. Then, try plugging in the GT100 and seeing if it loads the Roland driver. If that doesn't work...
4. Delete the Aud.ini file, restart your computer with the GT-100 connected, and let SONAR build a new list of interfaces with it.
 
And of course there's the usual computer BS, it is a USB 2 or 3 port, turn off power management for USB ports, do you have a choice of ports you can use, etc. etc.

My workflow is that I use the GT-100 constantly, with the editor open so I need the USB connected for that.   (Unless i'm missing something, those 2.00 drivers have been up there for quite a while.  All my USB ports are spoken for and everything works correctly except for this so I don't want to start moving things around.
 
So isn't the Aud.ini supposed to be in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\SONAR Platinum"?  I don't see it there.  Hmmm.
 
Right now I use Sonar for 2 things.  I use a lot of MIDI-Hits.com files for gigs and they offer them in the *.WRK format which is likely to have things like lyrics etc. that MIDI files won't have.  Also I've been toying around with using the playlist live for playing my backing tracks audio.  But the iPad Pro is sooooo much more convenient... we'll see.

I was really hoping there was a command that would go into an initialization file that would keep Sonar from loading a specific device.

Check out this page. Roland is showing a version 2.10 system update to be used with the v 2.1 GT-100 driver. I'd recommend making sure whether or not you have the latest versions installed.

It's actually a Boss Product so I wouldn't have expected Roland to have the drivers before Boss.  Weird.

I'm on Windows 8.1 but it was working fine.  Don't know what changed.
