in audio tracks, wave form pictures are not appearing. the sound still plays and I can still record, but there is no waveform picture. I have tried all the Associated audio files recompute pictures and even changed the Aud.ini settings that were mentioned in previous forum strings. can anyone help?

Have you tried clearing the picture cache? The folder is specified in Preferences > File > Audio Data "Picture Folder"

yes and then tried to have it recompute the audio picture for the specific clip. but still no waveform picture

does it say busy  ? and you tried this ?
 
To redraw waveforms
1. Select the clips that you want to redraw.

2. Right-click a selected clip, and choose Associated Audio Files on the pop-up menu to open the Associated Audio Files dialog box.

3. Click the Recompute Picture(s) button. A dialog box appears, asking if you want to recompute the pictures on the selected clips.

4. Click OK.

Already did this, still no wave forms

New drivers (version 342.01) for the GT 240 graphics card were released on December 14 for Windows 10 64-bit. Are those the drivers you're using?

New drivers installed still no waveforms appear. This is so frustrating!

All projects or just one??

Have you gone here to see if this is checked ?
Go to Edit > Preferences > Customization - Check the box - Display Waveform Preview While Recording.
 
If is unchecked, try checking it
 
Also what version of Sonar and if Platinum, are you using a custom theme ?

Box is already checked. I am using the latest update, 2016.12. Audio waveforms are not showinf in other projects either.
