  • Zooming In: non-centering on screen center?

I've always had a bit of problem with SONAR not being able to center NOW time (or better yet, make it user-defined, most of my work happens in the FUTURE and setting "center" to be about 1/3 across would be great). Anyhow...

Is there a way to set SONAR to zoom on the current NOW time if it's not center screen? And to have the zoom target that area. Currently it jumps NOW time to center and does the zoom. I'm never there (because NOW time can't be centered constantly in SONAR) so the jumps really distract me when I'm working.

Wicked,
Oops! Sorry. ....
Just kidding,
I know what you're saying. I usually pick the spot I need to see bigger and set vertical now line to that point and then enlarge. I really found no need for myself to go back to a spot and then enlarge. I try to go to the spot I need to work on and then go on from there. I'm not sure I've ever seen any way to program ahead and have Splat go to the point that you might need. I'm not sure if it's possible. It would need AI to know what you were going to need.       Hope this helps

Oh I'm okay with it zooming on the NOW time, the problem is that it then jumps the NOW time and the zoom to center. If the NOW time is not on-center (and really, since it can't be centered it rarely is) I would like the zoom to happen in situ and expand from there. Vegas does this, I think Sound Forge too. Then again, they also have mousewheel zooming...

Are you aware of the timeline magnifying glass zoom? That's my favorite - drag down to zoom in, up to zoom out, left or right to re-center or offset the now time.

SONAR has plenty of mouse wheel functionality...you're missing out on a lot. I know you're a good guy and not a whiner, but really, DAWs are complex programs with lots of nooks and crannies. Like any instrument, they require practice and need to be learned. When you call up the menu below, click on Help and you'll learn about even more options.

I don't know a lot about SONAR because I'm lucky, I know a lot about SONAR because I've studied it. Every hour invested in study has saved me much more than that over time...just like every hour I've spent practicing and learning guitar, keyboards, harmony, and composition has made me a better musician. It's part of the deal.

Awwwww snap, I just got Andertoned! ;-)

Thanks for the mousewheel reminder, I did recall it getting added at some point. I withdraw sub-item 3 from my gripe. :-)
