Hey Everybody - I've got a synth bass track where the attacks of the notes don't speak if the note before it extends into the beginning of the next one.

I've been going into every note and shortening it so the attacks will all speak. Took a LONG time.

Would be so much easier if there's a one stroke function for this, is there?

I tried quantizing the note durations but that didn't work.

Is there an easy fix? Thanks.

What synth are you using?  Is there an option to set it so that the envelope retriggers every time you hit a key?  Sounds like right you have it set as "Mono Legato".

That would be easier than editing the MIDI probably.

If you have to edit the MIDI, if all the durations are the same then you can quantize only the duration of the notes and leave the start points where they are.  It depends how complex the timing of your MIDI is.

I have a CAL Script that will remove overlaps from a monophonic sequence. If you P.M. me an e-mail address, I can send it to you. That said, since a real bass is not monophonic, I'm surprised you're encountering this issue with a bass synth. As Lee suggested, you might want to look into eliminating that characteristic from the patch if the synth is programmable and polyphonic.

Yep, sounds like it's playing in Legato mode

Try switching it to Mono or Poly
