Try WASAPI

This might well work.

I used a UA-101, the predecessor of the Quad Capture, with X1 and using Roland's ASIO driver there were a few strange issues. One being the channel/master getting pinned in the red. Another was a zipping/tearing noise when the eq was adjusted while Sonar was playing, and another was that when loop recording each pass through the loop after the first ended with a period of silence equal to the length of the ASIO buffer.

Switching to the Roland WASAPI drive (included in the driver package) fixed all of this and latency was as good as using ASIO.

X2 didn't have any problems using the UQ-101 ASIO driver because it fixed quite a lot of tricky or rare X1 bugs.

Thanks Wicked and tlw.

I reinstalled X1 as 64bit and patched up to X1d. ASIO still behaves exactly the same so that was not the fix.

I tried WASAPI, as it was in the list of driver modes (don't remember ever seeing it before) but it sounded like it was still drunk from new years eve. I was able to record but playback was dropped in pitch and all warbley.

Stumped for X1. Can you still upgraded to X2 or X3 from X1, or is the new 'Artist', 'Producer', etc the only option?

Artist, Professional and Platinum are the available choices now. Besides http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/Music-Creator
and

I would as advised earlier try the demo's.
Have you checked that bit depth is correct? (sorry if asked already)
All the best.

In asio mode, audio driver bit depth is set to 24 and disabled/greyed out.  I've tried toggling the checkbox beside it for "64-bit Double Precision Engine" with no effect.

Many ASIO drivers have a fixed bit depth.

Flash the unit and reinstall firmware. Try on a different computer with all the driver modes. Isolate whether it might be faulty hardware or not. Shouldn't be, but could be.

Thanks wicked. As I posted above, I have updated interface drivers and Sonar installs on two computers (desktop and laptop). All driver modes work on both machines with the exception of asio on my desktop pc.

Hey Zargg
Looking into bit depths to get the ASIO driver working I notice something weird. Everything is set at 24bit except the readout on the Control bar. What do you think?

The transport module shows the "Record Bit Depth" from Preferences > File > Audio Data.
