Gents,
today  I noticed that Sonar is suddenly running flawless on my system:
I had difficulties loading larg projects since the Win 10 update end October,
Large projects opend only in safe mode.
Today I had a long mixing session  inserting
a lot of CPU hungry fx (Slate stuff aso )  into that song again and voila:
Now I can open all larger projects "normal " .
Great

I´m really happy about that,
There has been no Win 10 or Sonar update today on my machine.
Has anybody an idea why this happend ?

regards
Pragi

Do you cold-boot regularly? That's the only other event I can see clearing up a chronic problem like that with no other changes. That, or you have an intermittent hardware issue involving loose/oxidized connections, heat, vibration, RF interference, sagging mains voltage, etc.

That´s a direction I haven´t thought about, will
check my mainboard for iirregularities .
And yes, I do   cold boots regularly
One thing I forgot about:
I openend Cubase short before it was possible to open the large projects
regularly .
Now I remember also that I installed Cubase short before this issues on my
machine appeared. In that moment Sonar was automaticall using the "Generic Asio driver" (of Cubase).
Had to change the driver settings and than the issues ........

Has anybody else had compareable issues in running Splat
and Cubase 8 on one machine ?

after loading 2016.12, splat ran unusually well... I had one crash of izotope64.dll (odd cause the track was muted and fx was off, and the same fx was active and didn't crash in another project).  Haven't had Cubase on my machine since I took off v4. lol

Of course...it takes time for the tubes need to warm up.

But seriously, you want to avoid the generic ASIO driver as much as you want to avoid ASIO4ALL. When I installed Cubase 7 (which is still on my computer), I deleted all references to the Generic ASIO driver in the Aud.ini file.
