  • Sonar Platinum - When booting up, it disables my network connection

As stated in the title, about 50% of the time when I boot Sonar Platinum my network connection says I'm no longer connected to the internet. Though it still lists my wifi router but says "limited" and won't reconnect unless I turn on airplane mode to reset the connection.

This also happened while I was updating my programs using Command Center, any time there was a failure it would basically turn my connection off and I've have to go through the process to get it back going. This is extremely annoying and has never happened before with my previous DAWs.

I'm using a PC with Windows 8.1
Latest version of Sonar Platinum installed.

Any workarounds to this bug?

Sounds like something else because when Sonar boots up it checks your subscription status.
Not really sure to be honest. Have you run a virus scan ?

AFAIK, Sonar doesn't check subscription status online on startup. My Sonar is blocked from internet access by the firewall without problems. But, start screen and cakewalk analytics will access the internet. So, maybe turning them off may help. Or completely blocking it ...

Any pc downloading from command center kills dns for all in the house or all down at my shop since day one of command center while the download portion pf the update is running. Therefore I have to pick my times to update. Even dns dies on the pc doing the update. And the outdated videos I can watch while I update have never run, just can't find server window where the video was to run. I brought this up at the first a long time ago and was met with the expected "pfft - loser" from others so, welcome to the world I guess.

There are more pressing issues we need cakewalk to fix so I just blow this off as it is not my pet peeve.

CCC is running in the background right now.
"D/Ling Local Documentation" as I write.
I'm waiting on 12 as the pre-release caused some "issues" here.

Surprising complaint. I routinely watch YouTube videos or visit the forum on my second monitor while Command Center's busy doing its thing.

I'm not saying you're imagining a problem, but I wonder why (or how) either CC or SONAR would (or could) even mess with the DNS service or network connection in the first place. It just doesn't make any sense.

I just verified (via a port monitoring utility) that SONAR does not open any ports.

(While I was watching it, I did notice that the recently-purchased Acronis software goes a little nuts, though. Sheesh. It's a reminder that there's a lot going on with the network that you don't see.)

I know some would consider this a feature instead of a bug.
