Sorry if this has been asked before but I just can't seem to understand this: What is the difference between Music Creator 7 and Sonar Homestudio? Who do these two products exist? Will Music Creator be abondoned at some oint?
Why do they cost nearly the same and do have the same functionality?

What was Cakewalks Marketing department thinking?

There are some comparisons in this thread http://forum.cakewalk.com/FindPost/3518151

One difference is not mentioned is MC7 is based on X3 and the new SONAR Home Studio uses SONAR 2016 as its base. I believe MC7 will be discontinued soon (just my guess though).

Maybe its me, but the title "SONAR Home Studio" is what got me started using SONAR to begin with (many years ago). I am not really a song writer, which seems to me what "Music Creator" is aiming for.

I think music software in some ways suffers from the same disease that Linux software has - names that have no correlation to what the software does. Consider Linux Software
  • GIMP - graphics
  • Pinta - graphics
  • Caja - File/Folder viewer
  • Nautilus - File/Folder viewer
  • Ubuntu - Linux Distribution
  • SUSE - Linux Distribution
Now consider some of the music software names
  • Cubase - DAW
  • REAPER - DAW
  • Izotope Neutrino - Spectral Shaping (to me sounds more like a NASA program)
Just my thoughts....
