I just rolled back to 2016.10 and M is working for marker on that one.

Are you familiar with the POK footswitch? It works with SONAR, but it also works with just about anything - I use it for formatting commands in Word. It might really help your workflow to put some keyboard shortcuts on a footswitch.

FWIW and back on topic, M still works for me with November release. 

This surely merits some kind of award for weirdest glitch. M is working fine here. I assume for the "M isn't working" folks, you can enter a track name that includes "M"? If so, then SONAR sees the key.
 
Maybe try reloading the default key bindings file? Or one for a different DAW, just to see what happens?

The default key bindings restored the M for marker here.  Yay!  The super heroes of Sonar save the day!

LOL!  That will do just fine!  "M" is one of the first things I do when I pull up tracks for mixing, so that got my attention very quickly.

Restoring the default keybindings file doesn't work.
With all my 11 laptops and computers "M" is not working. It's also not possible to assigne any other key to insert a marker.
Also the Behringer X-Touch cannot insert a marker. Before the Update the X-touch could.
There is something broken with "insert marker".
