Thank you Jim! I do plan to OC the 5820K, and am considering the NH-D14.

The NH-D14 is a good air-cooler (it's large so make sure you have room).

I'm very happy with mine (now 2 years old) and running very well. Yes it's HUGE.......I got a full tower ATX case to house NH-D14 (wanted to make sure it fits in).

Todd, if you do get the NH-D14 and need a free mounting kit for it, I have an extra one and don't mind shipping it to you (if you're in the States).

Thanks Jim, and thanks Mesh!

It'll be a few more days before I decide.  Won't be able to make this (system) change-over for another few weeks.

I don't think I mentioned this above...  My decision boils down to NH-D14 vs. Prolimatech Megahalems Rev. B.  I have the Megahalems in my current DAW (i7 870/LGA1156).  Has a 120mm Sharkoon fan.  I'm in dialog with Prolimatech about LGA2011-3 adapter kits and also checking to see if it can support 140mm fan.  I'm not having much luck finding performance comparisons between the two.  The reason for considering the Megahalems?...  I wouldn't have to pay for a new cooler!

The website frostytech has performance comparisons for both models, including noise specs. From what i could see, both are very good choices.

Thank you Mesh and atiinola! I've been spending time this am on the Frostytech site, very helpful info!!

I remember going through this 4 years ago, spent more time on the cooler selection process than all of the other system components combined...

You're most welcome Todd. I too went through a bit of dilemma choosing the 'right' cooler as my AsRock MB comes with built in tubes for water cooling (had to research both in order to make a good choice). Although there were very good/safe justifications in using water cooling, I somehow just  didn't like the idea of water & electronics being in the same equation.
The NH-D14 was getting excellent reviews at the time (2 years ago), and apart from the size of this beast, there weren't any complaints.
Good luck with the research.

Thanks Mesh. I have finally finished all of my homework/research. Whew!  I'm re-using the Megahalems Rev. B, and upgrading the fan to a Phantek PH-F140HP.
