I did a search and couldn't find the answers so if they're out there, please forgive me.
 
A quick question about the Plug-in Manager.  It's working fine, but I'm a little confused by what I'm seeing.  Firstly, I haven't yet created any Layout Files, so when I access the plug-ins and if I have them displayed by category, they're displayed as however they're defaulted.
 
My question has to do with why several of the plug-in names faded in the display box on the right (this box doesn't have a label; it's the one right under the Layout File field).   For instance, I have several POD Farm plug-in VST Audio Effects.  They defaulted to the "uncategorized" category (which is expected), and they work just fine.  However, when looking under their categories in the Plug-in Manager, their names are faded.  I can still selected them, but I don't understand why this is happening.
 
They're not the only ones...Others do this as well. What's the reason for this?

IF you are running 64 bit Sonar they may be 32 bit plugs. I'm pretty sure that's the only difference when looking at them in the browser.

Thanks John - I am running the 64-bit version, and your response might be a partial explanation...Regarding the Pod Farm plug-ins specifically, they came in both 32-and 64-bit versions.  And both versions were faded. 

64 bit plugins are blue, 32 bit plugins are green. If they are greyed, the plugin is not found, either because the CLSID is wrong or because they are not in a path scanned by Plugin Manager. Check the path under options in VST configuration and rescan if needed. If the problem is due to CLSID, you have to add the plugin from the list in the middle.

Hhhmmm...I guess it's just one of those "undocumented features"...  I decided to categorize the POD Farm plug-ins into the Guitar category, and they appear just fine...not faded, with blue icons (validating ralf's color-code from above, since I'm only displaying the 64-bit versions).  I think I'll just move on...As I stated, everything is working, so I won't take up anyone else's time.  Thanks for your help, folks!

I thought it was VST2 and VST3?!? but I was guessing

VST2, VST3, and DX are using different icons: DX has an X, VST2 a plug symbol, VST3 could also be a plug, but looks like B3. FX have "FX" at the bottom of the icon, instruments a keyboard. And there are MidiFX with the typical DIN-connector for Midi devices.
