Hello,

I was wondering if there is anyway to dial these in a bit more accurately.  I have exact value (1-127) amounts I want for each note, but using the draw tool is extremely difficult.  I would like to just punch in the value on each bar.  Is there something I am missing?

Thank You,
Adam

Hold down the CTRL key, double-click a note and enter the desired velocity value.

that works for velocity, however this is not for velocity.

I would suggest not getting too hung up about Modulation varying by 2-3 from your target. Most likely it won't even be detectable in the context of a full mix, and, if anything, the variation will add a little 'life' to the part.

I try not to pay to much attention to numeric values except in the case that there's some threshold effect where the sound changes drastically from one value to the next (e.g. sampled instruments with too few velocity layers).

Getting too caught up in numeric precision can kill both creativity and productivity.

you would be surprised how much 1 digit could make depending on the synth patch.

I also am not looking for it to have life, it is mechanical type synth pop.   I want it to be exactly perfect.

Is there a way to do this in the step sequencer?

And here lies the real problem.

i find it harder to use the draw tool for every 16th note.  I would rather just plug in some numbers.

if its not possible, then its not possible.

If you want super precision, Step Sequencer modulation values can be edited in the Event List. As far as the Event List is concerned, the Step Sequencer is just another group of MIDI data.

Just don't be confused by the Event List "self editing," because it interprets MIDI continuous controller data properly. For example, if you enter several Controller 74 events in a row with the same value, the Event List will show only the first one because a continuous controller represents only one value until changed.

I too will sometimes edit values for midi events, through the event list, by selecting the desired midi track, then positioning the Now Marker at or near the correct placement on the time line, and then opening up View>Event List and I will be close to exactly where I need to make the edits.  Doing it this way saves me a bunch of time in positioning to the correct data needing editing.

too cumbersome.  Ill buy B-Step Sequencer for $49 since the built in was is kind of basic.
