Drag the synth rack to the Browser, then using the Keyboard shortcut "B" it will hide the Browser+Synth rack at the same time. You can still use it in that similar way.

When I drag it to the Browser, it either ends on top of it or under it. But I have not found the way to "dock" it INTO the browser. Do I miss something?
So what I observe has no advantages. I mean if the Synth rack COULD be removed from the Browser (to put into Multidock or place alone), that could be a "new helpful feature". For the moment it is just a "nasty change...".

That was an intentional change to allow both the media browser and the synth rack to be open at the same time.

You can certainly do that.  You can have the synth rack floating by itself, or as MDI like it used to be in SONAR 8.5
You can also dock it in the multidock.

You must be missing something. You can have the Synth View docked in the Broswer:

Docked in the Multidock:

Or Floating:

Once it's floating you can just drag it to whichever "dock" you want it in

and save it as a screenset or lens, right?

I think part of the problem is the terminology.  First there is the Browser.  Then there is the Browser in the Browser.  Then if you open Synth Rack View, then there is a Synth Rack in the Browser.  Got it now?

Here it is again, with a few more details.  I hope I can keep the browsers straight ...

First there is the Browser (The pane on the right that you can collapse or expand).  Then there is the Browser (The combined tabbed view with the File Browser, the Plugin Browser, & the Notes Browser) in the Browser (The pane on the right that you can collapse or expand).  Then if you open Synth Rack View, then there is a Synth Rack View (Synth Rack) in the Browser (The pane on the right that you can collapse or expand).  The difference is that the Synth Rack is no longer tabbed in the Browser with the File Browser, the Plugin Browser, & the Notes Browser.  It now occupies it's own separate window in the Browser (The pane on the right that you can collapse or expand).  The Synth Rack can now be floated or docked with it's own window,  or moved back to the Browser (The pane on the right that you can collapse or expand).  It's no longer a tab in the other Browser.

Clear???

You must be missing something. You can have the Synth View docked in the Broswer:

That is hard to call "docked", it is "stacked". When something is docked, as in Multidock, it is possible to SWITCH between docked components. As with Media, Plug-ins and Notes (Synth Rack before). When something is stacked, it can be collapsed only. As with Help and Synth rack now.

I have not checked new alpha yet, but at the moment this "stacking" has some problems for me:

How to "restore" it with mouse after collapsing? It is possible by changing its window size, but that is not "restore". Key combination works, but that is not user friendly. Whatever module is "lower" can be collapsed/restored with one clip. The upper module has collapse throw menu and no self restore. It can not be even "undocked" by dragging!

Less important, but still:

Where is the Rack button? If the rest is collapsed, it is possible to open it in one click, it will restore the whole section, restore the browser and switch to the module in question. But not for rack.

The third effect: as soon as I add a Synth into undocked Rack, the rack disappear. When presented as a module, it collapse to the state I have shown before.

You can also dock it in the multidock.

I understand the intention, new features open some new possibility. But why it was not possible to add all that without removing the possibility to dock inside the multitab part of the browser, as it was in X1-Plat before? Also as a separate module stacked with browser, it can not show controls. So, as long as it is "around" the browser, it has no advantages over previous version, just wasting space when not hidden. When collapsed it still take some space, to hide it completely, I have to "undock" it first and then "kill". When I want it again, it sometimes restored as undocked, sometimes as stacked.

"allow both the media browser and the synth rack to be open at the same time" could mean I can drag and drop an Instrument into Rack from the browser.... No, I can not

No offense, probably I can deal with all that after some time.

I hope I don't sound ignorant by saying this but...Have you read the documentation ?
Sometimes complaints are simply a matter of a misunderstanding, Not checking how the new features work when they are released.

The Synth Rack can be docked in the MultiDock or in the Browser. By default, the Synth Rack view will open as a floating view. This allows you to use the Browser while the Synth Rack is visible.
When docked in the MultiDock, the Synth Rack view has space to show more controls, such as enable/disable and assignable controls.
The Browser can host the Media, Plug-in, and Notes Browser, Synth Rack, and Help Module.
To open the Synth Rack view, go to Views > Synth Rack View or press CTRL+SHIFT+S.

I wish CW would do a comprehensive video about this. I confess I am utterly confused after reading all of the above.
For me the synth rack change fixed something that wasn't broke.

Great info Guys....I have always docked the browser (actually always on the right), always used B keyboard shortcut to show\hide. But I haven't been explaining correctly. In above post by abacab where he states this "there is a Synth Rack in the Browser." This is what I meant I use all the time. Still, sometimes it is "unclear" how to get back to the "there is a Synth Rack in the Browser." view. But much better since I reinstalled and all.

Like I said maybe I screwed something up with lenses or something. Also really some great c;ear explanations here
