  • Easiest way to stretch audio?

I have a vocal phrase that I'd like to edit; I want to move the last few words to land on the beat. In Sonar, what's tool would you recommend for doing this: AudioSnap? Melodyne? Something else that I've missed?

Oh, one more thing: One of the words is too short, so I'd like to stretch it a bit. That's why I'm not just slicing the audio and dragging it around.

Thanks!

Either of those options will work fine.

Try the audio stretch too ( CTRL + SHFT then drag the clip boundry).
Audition for placement ( ignoring the low quality audition audio quality).
If you like it, bounce to clip for the full fidelity version of the stretch. If you're not happy, undo all of that and try Melodyne or Audio Snap, but the simple stretching works surprisingly well and is quick.

Split first, move the beginning of the words into place, then follow dcmg's advice above.

dcmg, that's exactly what I was looking for! Thanks to you, Sanderxpander, and Craig for your help!

1. Cut the section to be stretched from the rest of the clip
2. Bounce it*
3. Stretch it by Ctrl+Shft+Drag
4. Bounce it again
5. (optional) Bounce it with the rest of the clip to form one clip

*#2 is very important if the original clip is large. Splitting clips actually makes a copy of the entire clip with the rest of it hidden. Drag either end to see the rest reappear. Bouncing it renders it to just the part you want to edit making edits more accurate and reliable.
