Easy to reproduce.

1.  Start a brand new BLANK project (no busses)
2.  Load up any softsynth
3.  Dial in a patch
4.  Save Simple Instrument Track as a Track Template
5.  Start a new project from a template with busses (or existing project with busses)
6.  Insert the track template
7.  Track template output is set to a random bus (for me it was set to my "ElectricGuitar" bus, which is like the 7th down in my project).  

Hi. I could not replicate on my laptop. The Track Template were assigned to Master when inserted. I have my Master set as my default bus in my projects, so I wonder if maybe the guitar bus in your project might have been the first created (if started from blank template).

I've seen this before .
 
I created a super duper effects template and when I import to a existing project the routing is completely screwed.
 
I stopped using complex templates for that reason.
