Hi,
When I opened up CBB this morning, it came up with a box "you are currently running in demo mode due to a problem with activation, please contact support" what's this all about ?

What you're seeing is not normal behavior but it is behavior that was reported in early versions of Cakewalk by Bandlab.  I would delete the Bandlab Assistant you presently have on your desktop, download the latest-greatest from Bandlab's website https://www.bandlab.com/download and download the latest version of Cakewalk by Bandlab.  The latest version of Bandlab Assistant is V3.2.1 and the latest version of Cakewalk by Bandlab is 2018.07 (build 13, 64 bit).

Thanks for the reply, I have the latest Bandlab Assistant V3.2.1 but my version of Cakewalk by Bandlab is 2018.04 (Build 13) how do I download the latest version of Cakewalk ?

Fire up BandLab Assistant, and go to the "Apps" tab.
 
Then click on Upgrade under the Cakewalk section.

BA should have an update button on the Cakewalk panel in under Apps. The same button used for the initial install. If updating does not take it out of demo mode use the uninstall option on the menu on the right-hand side of the button on the Cakewalk panel then reinstall CbB.
