  • [Solved] iZotope Neutron and SPLAT - problem

I picked up iZotope's Neutron plugin today, installed it, inserted it on a track, selected a preset and immediately have a show stopper issue.  As soon as I select a Neutron preset the SONAR track meter pegs, I hear a loud "pop" and then have NO sound on anything during playback...except for pops.  I have to remove Neutron from the track, close the project and reopen before the project will play.  Of course, it plays only if I DON'T add Neutron to any of the tracks.

Any suggestions...help?

Also, I use Ozone and Alloy and have no issues with those plugs.

I've sent iZotope a problem report email.

I am not going to download the trial until Friday but this thread is disturbing. Which version of SONAR? Rumor has it Neutron is CPU intensive, and not sure if it meets the criteria for the new core balancing. Bumping up audio buffers and/or disabling core balancing may help.

Solved.

Use the VST3 version of the plugin and it works perfectly.

The splat happens on the VST2 version only.

You can do the following:
- Utilities -> Cakewalk Plug-in Manager
- Select VST Audio Effects (VST)
- Select iZotope Neutron and click Exclude Plugin

This will hide the VST2 version of the plugin from your system, leaving only the working VST3 one to avoid this happening again.

Anyone else also have problems with the "Assistant" feature on Neutron? I use it on tracks & it says, wait for 4-10 seconds but nothing happens, becides the visual "on" graph? I write here cause maybe it is a problem within Sonar by this plugin. Interesting to know if anyone get it to work properly

Any buttons you should click after 10 seconds? I tought it should finish the EQ calculation on its own?

If I add Neutron during playback, then nothing happens when clicking Track Assistant.

Stopping playback before adding Neutron resolved the problem for me.

I'll have to give this a try when I get back to my studio.  It's strange that Neutron defaults to VST2 instead of VST3.  I have Ozone and Alloy and have not had any issues with those plugs.  I wonder it they have been load the VST2 also...hmmm...

On the plus side, at least somebody is experiencing a noticeable change when they use the Neutron plugin! ;)
