I created an awesome template in SPLAT with no plugins on any tacks and AD2 already broke out and routed to separate tracks. My question is will this template work in any version of Sonar or SPLAT only?

What Zargg meant was the template will work in any contemporary edition (might not work on older versions, though). You'll just get missing-plugin dialogs for any VSTs you don't have but the tracks will be created. If, however, you're running Artist on the same machine as SPLAT, it'll also load up AD2.
