Just did the December update. now Sonar will not start at all. Get the flash screen but that's all. So... How do i roll back out of this ?

First, make sure there isn't something behind the flash screen that wants your attention (check the Task Manager).
Second, update Windows 10 then restart.
Third, start SONAR while holding down Shift and see if it starts.

Open up Command Centre and rollback to an earlier version is what I suggest and see if that works.

I wouldn't rollback just yet before I tried a few things like opening in safe mode (as Craig mentioned)
It could be a plug in. or an update.

Cant give up too easy. have to explore all avenues. Its well worth it.

Second, update Windows 10 then restart.

Given all of the current issues I am not sure that is such good advice!

OK.. First , there was nothing behind the splash screen. The program was not responding. Second i use Windows 8 . whatever the last one was. third.. After restarting, I could get some life out of it. it just took forever to actually load up , find the plugins etc. I am not sure if this is how I want to continue doing recording. I used to record ... now i fart around with what seems to be an endless chain of buggy stuff and the latest reasons and excuses. If yours works, good for you. I spend too much time wet nursing this thing these days. Rethinking this entire system at this point.

Post some specs Talon,
Maybe we could help you smooth things out a bit.
at the least, maybe even try to help. Its very difficult trying to problem solve when we don't know a thing about your set up (Audio card, System Specs, plug ins, Exc) Opening in safe mode will at minimum allow you to know if its a plug in causing the slow loading. I find 9 out of 10 times this is the problem, because the plug in needs time to load, not Sonar. When you open a new project does it take 5 seconds to open ? when you open an existing project does it take 45 seconds to load ? Those questions right there will answer a lot.

A new project is not loading any synths so it should open very quickly. an existing project has to load the synths, FX's so it takes a little more time. If new projects take a long time to load, it could be hardware, could be Sonar as well Or an audio card problem not loading the drivers properly. I hope this info has helped get an idea of what you are looking for.

Merry Christmas.

Or it could be a sampler loading a 7 GB piano library

The bad news about computer-based recording is it's touchy and is totally dependent on the environment under which is runs.

The good news is that it's possible to create an optimum environment and be extremely productive.
