thank you for the response.  It does indeed say connecting.  I am using a usb single in/out midi adapter for the MCU and that may be the issue.  I'll switch to one of my MOTU midi timepiece ports and re-assign.  Maybe that will work

Well that did it.  Changing to the MIDI Timepiece port 8 turned everything green and the controller is working and synced.  Thank you Azslow3 for the help

Just saw this .. a bit cheaper but no support for SONAR [how others are supported?]

They mention "Mackie control" support. For QCon Pro they have not implemented it correctly initially, but there is one user who claim with the latest firmware it finally works. That is not the same device, but since they have found Mackie documentation (as published on another forum, that was the reason for incomplete implementation... lol), may be they have managed to implement it right for this device as well.
