Hi guys,
Is there a way to turn off every instance of a certain plugin with shortcut keys?

I have recently got hold of the Slate everything bundle and I really like the Slate VTM and VCC so I have created a track template with it enabled on pretty much every track but as I use Sonar for writing music for my band I wanted to know if there is a way I can quickly disable all instances of a particular plug in at once for when I am tracking? And if there is any way to work out which plugins are smashing the CPU?
 
I am getting CPU spikes that stop audio playback with them all enabled even at the highest latency on a 6700K. I think Reason rewired is pushing the 1st core too hard as the 1st core seems to be the only one going into the red but with all FX disables its relatively low so I don't think that is the only factor. On that note does anyone know how to make Rewire/reason use a different core?
 
If I have to start freezing tracks(which I haven't done in a long time) by having the VTM and VMR in an FX chain in the prochannel they won't freeze will they?
 
I don't want to just disable all FX as I use a guitar amp sim when tracking as I am in an apartment as well as a lot of synths/samples with other FX.
 
I pretty much felt like I had unlimited CPU before trying the Slate stuff with the 6700K but I do really like how it sounds on my demos.

Hold down CNTRL while you click the power button for that plug in (in the FX bin)
 
This should do it. Its called "Quick grouping"
it works with a lot of controls in Sonar (Solo, mute, exc).
 
you just highlight the track (by swiping or holding CNTRL) then hold down CTRL and click 1 item.
it will group them all. remember CTRL is the key command.

I am at work at the moment but I was up late frustrated with the cpu issues and I will do this as soon as I get home!

im surprised, with a 6700 you shouldn't be having any troubles really.
the latest updates with Sonar has Load Balancing which utilizes core behavior but im not sure in your case its going to help. its more for multi plug in per track support.
However I have noticed a difference in core balancing even with 1 plug in per track.

Yeah I was surprised too. this is the first time I have ever seen my 6700K stressed with anything I have done on it since building the computer.
 
I tried plug in balancing and it wouldn't even play. it would start to play for half a second and then just drop out.
 
What I was doing last night was moving a project into a new project that already a template created applied and cutting and pasting VST's and settings across where needed along with the audio. I did have the original closed though but maybe for some reason it didn't let go of its resources.  Though when I hit the FX button in the top the CPU usage dropped right down. I did have alot of tracks though as I write industrial metal stuff so even if a sample only goes for a couple of bars in one part of the song it generally has its own track and therefore had its own VCC and VTM on that track.  I might have to try to create more group buss' for those sorts of tracks that will all have the same VTM/VCC settings to keep the CPU down.

You might want to take a look at how the cores in your CPU are configured. There's a terrific, free utility called ParkControl Free from Bitsum. Note that there's a Pro version that's $9, that I don't remember seeing before. Need to check that out myself.

Edit: The Pro version enables a new feature called Bitsum Dynamic Boost. The Free app includes a power profile called something like Bitsum Highest Performance (higher than MS' High Performance mode). What Dynamic Boost does is let you run at full bore when you're working, and backed off when idle.
 
I bought it and enabled it. We'll see if it has any negative impact while working in SONAR.

Get the free version! I've been using it for a long time with NO issues whatsoever.
 
What I was referencing was what happens if the new feature switches to Power Saver mode while SONAR is just churning away, with no keyboard, mouse or MIDI input.
 
Since I posted that EDIT, I played around with the Pro version a bit. I don't feel that there will be any issues. The Time Before Idle can be set to as many seconds as you'd like (with menu options up to 30 minutes, plus Other (1-n seconds)). I left it at the default (5 minutes) for now.
 
Also note that there is a tip on Bitsum's website near the bottom of the Park Control page that mentions you can disable Dynamic Boost, set the power plan to Power Saver, set the monitor and PC Sleep settings to Never, and then turn Dynamic Boost back on again (which automatically uses Bitsum Highest Performance mode). That way, if it ever does switch you to Power Saver mode, it won't turn off your display or sleep your PC. Done and Done!
 
So, the Pro version is about saving power (running cooler!) if you leave your DAW unattended for some time.
 
The Free version is what will give you the performance improvement.

AFAIK, quick grouping doesn't work on FX bins or individual effects in the bins. I've actually tried it just now, and, no, it doesn't work (unless I'm missing somthing...).
