• SONAR
  • CPU usage management. Can I turn off all instances of a particular plugin? (p.2)

highlight each track with the plug ins.
Hold down CNTRL while you click the power button for that plug in (in the FX bin)

This should do it. Its called "Quick grouping"
it works with a lot of controls in Sonar (Solo, mute, exc).

you just highlight the track (by swiping or holding CNTRL) then hold down CTRL and click 1 item.
it will group them all. remember CTRL is the key command.

AFAIK, quick grouping doesn't work on FX bins or individual effects in the bins. I've actually tried it just now, and, no, it doesn't work (unless I'm missing somthing...).

well as I said "It should work" but I'm wrong and you are right.

Ahh cheers!

I will download it tonight!

How much of a performance increase did you find you got from the free version originally?

I have no specific before/after metrics, for two reasons. First, it never occurred to me to run a bunch of benchmarks and app tests before I installed it, so I have no baseline. Second, I've been using the utility since its inception. It's been getting new features as it's been developed, so there have been incremental improvements.

For me, the salient points are:

1) it has never crashed my system

2) I don't notice it in operation (not intrusive)

3) I am free of Microsoft's aggressive CPU throttling to "save" power, even in High Performance mode

4) it has always been, and remains, FREE

With the last update, the dev added the Dynamic Boost feature and made it a paid "Pro" version. $9. I paid it happily, to support the dev. The new feature is about power saving (heat reduction) in an idle system. 100% of the performance improvement features remain FREE.

Hi Everyone,

I have had it on our 'task list' to visit this thread and take in user feedback, and help if possible. I finally got to that (hey, I am a busy man, and that is for real!).

I am very pleased to hear the use and recommendation of any of our software. It's all no-nonsense, no-BS stuff. It does what it claims. Of course, ProBalance was the real breakthrough, as even today, it's benefits are so remarkable - and testable / demo-able.

Anyway, so everything is as close to free as I could make it and remain an independent developer.

CPUBalance - Freemium - New - Features our ProBalance algorithm ONLY - No present restrictions in free build (yes!)
ParkControl - Freemium - BHP mode quickly sets you for 'maxed out', which is what most desire.
Process Lasso - Freemium - Could be used to handle the OP's request, as it is the 'big boy toy' with ALL features.

Choose the one that works for you, but they also all install fine together (e.g. redundancies are eliminated). Try, bust, or jsut use - I appreciate all our users, paid and free.

Thanks!

I'm thinking this thread indicates you haven't been able to disable them as a set.

Would it work if you put them into effect chains by themselves and quick group the chains? Try dragging them to the pro channel... an effect chain should be auto created. Then select all the tracks with the chains and click the power button on one of the chains.

I'm not sure what those plugs are ... are they candidates for use as send effects?  A single instance of each on a couple of buses might be a better choice.

I didn't know that,. dragging an effect into prochannel auto creates am effect chain, I have been rite clicking and manually creating effect chains and then rite click effect chain to insert audio effect. useful info,. that's faster and easier. thank you

.....I have an I7-2600, 16 Gb of Ram on a Asus P8p67 Pro motherboard, a 500 Gb SD for the sw and 12 TB HDD for storing data and library..... sometimes it happens that with about 60 tracks in play with at least 3 vst plugin for each track my sistem seems to be slightly struggling..... indeed some plugins are heavier than others, among them the digital slate and the waves abbey road.... :-) :-) :-)
....perhaps it would be to replace my old 512-MB NVidia video card with another more powerful video card ..... any suggestions? I have no fan cooler on my cpu because I use a Zalman Fx100 on it.... I am looking for a silent video card, maybe even without a fan with at least 1 GB of RAM if not 2 ... I gladly accept your suggestions about.....

Thank you in advance... :-)

You might want to take a look at how the cores in your CPU are configured. There's a terrific, free utility called ParkControl Free from Bitsum. Note that there's a Pro version that's $9, that I don't remember seeing before. Need to check that out myself.

https://bitsum.com/parkcontrol/

Edit: The Pro version enables a new feature called Bitsum Dynamic Boost. The Free app includes a power profile called something like Bitsum Highest Performance (higher than MS' High Performance mode). What Dynamic Boost does is let you run at full bore when you're working, and backed off when idle.

I bought it and enabled it. We'll see if it has any negative impact while working in SONAR.

+1 for bitsum parkcontrol. Can actually visually see it spreading the CPU load. Using free version. Running the lowest latency I've ever been able to run.

Brands, try an Nvidea gtx 750/750 ti. Great performance and only requires a 300 watt power supply.

Also, not very expensive...
