  • Is Celemony's Melodyne 4 compatable with mc7 as a VST3 plugin?

I purchased the plugin and after some confusion about a missing "installer", it is sitting in my VST3 folder. I can't seem to get any data/material into the melodyne 4 essential plugin. I think I'm following the procedure, drag the plugin into the track I want to edit, open the plugin's interface and click "transfer", then I click "o.k." (which closes the interface) then I play the track for Melodyne to record and analyze but, I don't get any data into the plugin. I've converted the vocal track to mono hoping that was the problem, but still nothing. Any help would be great.

According to other posts about melodyne working with mc 4 thru 6 it should work with 7. Well, it should... Guess I'll dive into the documentation

I just loaded Melodyne Studio in MC7 for the first time ever. While it has more features than Essential, they are the same VST3 plug-in with a different license. Also I have only tested using the plug-in in the FX rack a couple of times as I did not use the plug-in before Cakewalk integrated ARA support in SONAR. So much for the disclaimers. It seems to work for me. Here is what I did:

Created an audio track and dropped a clip into the track
Added the Melodyne VST3 to the FX rack
Clicked on Transfer in the Melodyne UI and left the Melodyne UI open
Started the MC7 transport and watched the blobs get written in the Melodyne UI
Messed with the blobs a bit in Melodyne and listened to the clip.

It is also possible to add the stand alone Melodyne to the Tools section of the Utilities menu. The downside is that you cannot hear the other tracks while editing in Melodyne. I wrote a utility to make adding programs to the menu a little easier, it is called SONARToolsEditor and it works with the Utilities menu in Cakewalk DAW. It is available here.

Hummm,

I'm trying to use Melodyne in MC7 and not having any luck.  I'll try the VST 2 version.
scook, any hints at what I might be doing wrong?

Selecting an audio track,  Inserting Melodyne into the FX Rack,  Melosyne opens, but there does not seem to be a way of importing the track data.

EDIT:
OK,  I figured it out.  I forgot how clumsy it is to use without the ARA integration.

Yup it does work here with MC7 and Melodyne Editor 4.

There should be a Transfer button under the menu in the Melodyne UI. Click that button then start the MC7 transport. As the track plays, the blobs should appear in Melodyne.

Thanks.  I had forgotten that you have to actually play the track to get it into Melodyne.

Thanks Scook, I was making an error loading it into the track instead of the Fx rack It's working now. Thanks again.
