If you buy gt the serial # is on the case. To get the software to work past 30 days you need to register it, so Cake can keep track of who is using your software.
If you have done all that your serial number and registration # can be found under registrations (I think that is it) under your profile.
If you never registered your product, you'll have to contact Cake.
If you bought a pre- registered product, it will not work for you past 30 days. If the person who illegally sold you the product provided the regsitration #, you still won't get updates unless they give you their Cake account, too.
Hope that clears it all up for you. It is pretty simple and keeps cakewalk from losing sales w/o going to iLok or some other protection scheme. If you bought 2nd hand you are probably screwed - penny wise and pound foolish.
