Welcome.... it looks like you have  the right gear to get a good start....

but rather than telling you do this... do that..... I will suggest that you take the time to watch the tutorial video's cake has put on line for you.

http://www.cakewalk.com/CakeTV/Music-Creator.aspx

As you work through the video's, keep a pad and pencil handy and make notes and write down questions.

Then, come back here and post the questions and we will assist you.

take one lesson at a time.... you'll be a pro in no time.

I never liked the amp sims much..... but I do use the FX associated with guitar on some tracks. I prefer to use a POD or mic the amp in the room rather than using the sims.

That's a personal preference..... some folks love them.

I use the Line 6 POD 2 for guitar. It is pretty quiet...depending on the model and the gain and volume settings I am using.

You can hear what it sounds like by listening to a few of the songs on my web site. Emerald Eyes (pg 1) & Sad Goodbye (pg 2) are good ones for hearing the guitar through the POD....

I bought the POD on Ebay for half the original cost.

early stuff started with a drum track..... I work differently now. Jupiter...I believe all I did was add the guitar to a project someone else had recorded.

Sad goodbye... yeah it's not a funeral song but it is sad.... no offense taken.
