I'm thinking about cloning my hard drive because I need a bigger hard drive and I don't want to lose all my setting and re-install all my instruments.  Does anyone have any experience cloning their hard drive and how does sonar react to it?  I know I will probably have to re-verify/put in serial numbers for most of my vsts.

There shouldn't be any issues.

Thank you for the quick response!  Would you recommend Acronis or Paragon or it doesn't matter?

I have used Acronis and Ghost to clone hard drives many times. A very simple process. You will NOT need to re-activate, authorize or re-install anything. The software will resize the new drive to make all space available.
PM me if you have any questions.

Jatoth is correct. You will not need to re-activate, re-authorize. If you do have to, something didn't go right.

I use Acronis True Image and Disk Director.

There are a few things, some copy protection will look at the hard drive serial number. Steam is one I'm thinking about (just a matter of reauthorization). Regardless the statement above in general is true.

Another benefit to Acronis and Ghost. I have used both to transfer the image of an existing hard drive to a completely different computer. They both have a function to restore an image to new hardware!
No installing OS, programs, data, etc. Really useful to move your setup to a new machine.

FWIW, I've used True Image literally hundreds of times.
Super easy to create a backup image file of the existing boot drive... and transfer to a new HD/SSD!
The side benefit being that you'll also have the ability to create/maintain and up-to-date backup image file.
Can't stress this enough...
It's cheap insurance that (no matter what) you can quickly/easily get back to a properly functioning DAW.

DETOUR AHEAD

Does Acronis have the ability to perform folder level backups and such?  I looked at it once, but it seemed like it was a one trick pony at the time.  Maybe I missed something
