It looks like you are using a 32 bit plug-in based on that .dll path.  What 32 bit plugs do you have in your project?

Why you think so? "system32" is for 64bit (SysWOW64 is for 32bit)

I stand corrected.

Azslow3, thanks for the info. We tried some stuff using all three versions of mackiecontrol.dll.
so the original, the github and your version.

We created a project with 1 drum track, and in that project we tried changing some settings.
And with all three dll's, sonar faulted when we selected the compressor in the prochannel for that track.
even without enabling the compressor, just waiting for a few seconds had the application fault.
we are using Addictive drums for the track.

hopefully this helps you a little.

hopefully this helps you a little.

That can help you, CW and other users. In fact I am at the very end of this list (I have not used that part of functionality, at least not the same way, that is why I have not spotted the bug before ).

I was able to reproduce exactly that crash. I have also localized where that happens and I could reproduce it outside MackieControl. At the moment I can not say why that happens, but that is inside Sonar.

I will implement a workaround. Not before tomorrow evening, but I will try to be fast.

Thanks for the cooperation.

PS The reason I have not hit it before: I use Mackie emulator on my phone and I had no idea how to switch it into Dynamics mode. After you have explicitly mentioned the compressor, I have found that.
Note that I had no such crashes with EQ, can you confirm that? To test EQ please use my moded version. Original plug-in selects the first ProChannel module when you press "EQ" and Sonar default for the first position is the Compressor... You can try to move EQ to the top in ALL tracks, then the original plug-in should work with EQ button correctly.

My mod (dyneq) supposes to fix the problem with the compressor. At least I was letting Mackie emulator show Compressor parameters on one AD2 track project for a half an hour without the issue.

Please confirm if you also no longer get Sonar crash when using ProChannel Compressor.

The link to my files is still the same, but since the original thread here is "locked", I have moved the post to my forum:

Do not forget to download the .INI file referenced there. Without that file the mapping for EQ and Compressor is wrong (stock mapping is for old EQ/Comp filters).

Thanks for all that you do with the controllers, Azslow, it's very much appreciated.

I've noticed an issue with the Mackie Control surface where the  READ ON/OFF button (I'm using an X-Touch with Sonar labels) seems to get out of step with the [R!] button in Mix control bar module.

It appears that the command from the control surface is working, but the [R!] button is unaware of it.

The [R!] button still works, it blindly toggles whatever the internal read state is and it toggles its button highlight, regardless of the true automation read state. It looks to me that this is an issue on the Cakewalk side, not with MackieControl.dll.

BTW, I'm also able to compile and build the DLL and do debugging (I'm a programmer..) The code is a lot to get a handle on, but I'm interested in a few mods such as getting that READ ON/OFF button to stay lit when [R!] is highlighted. I'm wondering if the modifier buttons can be made latchable, if that would be a good idea, and so on. I'd love to hear any thoughts you have.

Thanks very much Azslow3,
Sonar doesn't crash anymore when tweaking the compressor with the Mackie control it allready worked fine with the EQ module and when I put the EQ on top in the pro channel the EQ and compressor work also BUT...............now rotary knob 5 on both the master mcu and the extender causes the master fader to to go down to INF even when the mackie is in track mode.
