  • WARNING about VKFX plugins..!!!!!

Hi guys, I'm busy wrapping up an album mix and a day or two ago an anonymous gray coloured Activation/Authorisation box popped up on the bottom left side of my screen when launching SPLAT. I could not figure out which demo product it was so I ignored it for the time-being... big mistake. It turns out my VKFX plugins had somehow lost their authorization and the problem is that they reset themselves to zero if you don't immediately sort it out. I had saved quite a few projects before I realised what was going on - the only way I could recover the settings was to go back to an earlier version of my mixes (luckily I'm totally anal with archiving stages of projects) and save the entire Prochannel template for each track that had a VKFX effect on it.. Then go forward to the latest mix and recall each PC template for each track. That took a while, so heed my warning if you come across this.

The fact that the pop-up did not even identify the brand or plugin is just ridiculous, never mind resetting the parameters..

Anyhoo, I hope this saves some of you guys a bit of pain.

LJB,
Are you saying that VKFX plugs lost their auth so that they would not save their settings and you opened and saved projects containing these now un-auth'ed plugs ? So the VKFX custom settings in those projects were lost ?

Do you think this was caused by a Sonar update or a Windows update.
I noticed that the Nov 2016 update for Win 10 1607 de-auth'ed both my AD2 and Melodyne 4 Studio because the Computer ID was changed after the win 10 Nov update. I had to go online and delete and add back my PC for both.

This suggests that ANY plug or 3rd party program which relies on Computer ID for auth (including ones where there is a limit to how many instances are allowed) becomes un-auth'ed after the Win 10 Nov update.

Thanks for the heads-up and I feel for you, especially at the final mix stage.
