As it's getting close to the end of the year...
I've been recording for a couple of decades both at home and in studios.  I've got an ingrained workflow, and digging through the clutter of everything Sonar Platinum has (blessed by TOO MUCH STUFF) takes more time than I usually want to dedicate to experimentation.
This year I started using other features that I've always ignored.  Here are a few that I'm glad I looked into:

FX Chains:  I've only got a few right now.  One chain is for the Master Buss, to compensate for mixing on headphones.  It's got Sonarworks Headphone Calibration and Waves NX Virtual Mix Room on it.  Another is a chain for recording vocals.  Light compression, a bit of EQ and reverb.  Nothing i'd use for a mix, but enough to give me a decent sound for monitoring as I sing.

Take Lanes:  I hadn't recorded vocals in a couple of years, and used to manually comp a few takes for a final track.  Comping with Take Lanes has really sped up the process.

Side-chain compression:  Again, for my own listening, i never got to this minute level of mixing.  Slap a compressor on the bass guitar, triggered from the kick.  A quick step, but makes a big difference in smoothing out the bottom end.

Anyone else have new tricks that they've discovered or just started using recently?
