I'm following the CakeTv video to convert a guitar track to a midi track. I am using rapture pro in the midi track and have a piano selected. When I drag and drop the guitar clip into the midi track it comes out as a single note. Any idea why? Thanks for any help

In melodyne make sure it is set for polyphony and not percussion.

Hi. My guess is that Melodyne is using the percussive algorithm, and you need to use melodic.
All the best.

Thanks for your quick replies! The video tutorial doesn't mention Melodyne at all - it says to create a midi track; load an instrument; drag and drop audio clip. The video says "SONAR Professional and SONAR Platinum allow you to convert audio to MIDI in as little as a single click thanks to ARA integrations".

It should mention Melodyne since Sonar uses it to convert audio to Midi (the ARA integration is the clue) and many people have the same problem as you did.

So the guitar track has to be selected and then use region FX to select Melodyne? Odd that the video doesn't mention that.

Dragging the audio to a MIDI track uses Melodyne to create the MIDI data. While you do not need to explicitly use Melodyne as a Region FX, you will need to open Melodyne to change the default algorithm. This may be done by dropping the plug-in in an FX bin, set the algorithm then delete the plug-in.

You just need to set another default in Melodyne (once), then conversion will be as expected:
