As the title said, all of a sudden, inserting CA-2A hard crashes my Sonar Platinum x64 if I do it during playback. Don't even get the fault reporter. If I do it with audio stopped, there's no issue at all. I'm on the November release. Can anyone confirm or is it just me? Happens with both the ProChannel (presumably VST2 based) and the regular fx bin (VST3) version btw.

I wouldn't know, for the simple reason that I NEVER insert plugins during playback.

Known issue triggered by Windows update; Bakers are working on it. See this sticky post:

Thanks for your feedback. At least it didn't sound judgmental at all :)

Ha, thanks! Good to know, obviously the workaround isn't too horrible. Just glad it's not just me, all the better if the bakers are already fixing it!

Wasn't meant to be, just trying to be succinct

Right. Just wondering why you replied at all then I guess, as it in no way added any new information to the thread.

Perhaps because it suggests a 'best practice.'

+1 I am many like BJ, I don't insert plug ins during play back.
In my opinion, your simply taking an unnecessary risk.
Ive asked myself many times... Would I benefit from inserting plug ins while the transport is rolling ?
I also throw in the same along the lines of "Should I try to save my project while the transport is rolling".
The short answer is no.

However for testing purposes, I just tried in order to repro, all good here .
I would like to add, im on Windows 8.1. I hope this later part of my comment helps.

It's the first time in years that this "unnecessary risk" has crashed Sonar and I do this all the time. I think it's pretty normal to have the song running and decide to slap on, say, an EQ on the lead vocal, similar to grabbing an EQ on an analog console. I would be really surprised if I'm the only one who thinks this is normal, certainly the bakers have made it easy enough (and stable enough, this bug excluded).

More importantly, it confirms the patronizing nature of that post. I already stated that it works fine when I stop the transport first. So all it was meant to do was criticize my workflow and imply that the crash was partly my fault for taking a (n imaginary) risk.
