I've been able to open / play / edit projects with the CA-2A by starting the MS tool Process Monitor first and then closing it after the project is open. (Thx to bitflipper for the insight.)

It's quite possible inserting a new instance of CA-2A without Process Monitor running will cause a crash but if you're just mixing this hack has been working for me.

Then I'm afraid I can't help you. As I stated in my original post, I only get a crash if I insert it during playback. My workaround is just to stop audio before.

Jackson,

Thanks to Bitflipper's tip about running Process Manager, I've managed to avoid these crashes. But I'm curious about your advice to close PM after you open the Sonar project. Is that to save resources? I just leave it running.

I had scanning issues with CA-2A so I uninstalled and reinstalled it as administrator. 1st manual scan in Sonar crashed the scanner, not Sonar. 2nd manual scan worked but now I have 2 CA-2A listings in 64 bit Sonar and 3 in 32 bit Sonar Insert Audio Effects menu.

The Browser list also shows 2 instances.

Only 1 shows in the plugin manager. ???

I'm going to try Procman.  I have the CA-2A issue on insert (Pro Channel).  I have rebooted several times, same issue.  I miss my CA-2A!

There is some logging function in play but I doubt it's a problem. I didn't bother to spend time checking to see if it might be a problem for a long session or go through the filters to reduce activity as it only seems to be needed when opening a project or inserting one of the problem VSTs.

However, have since seen a couple of "General errors" when trying to save a project which I could make go away by restarting Procman.

Actually bitflipper's suggestion of running process monitor while running SONAR seems to have corrected the issue.
For those of you that don't know, Process Monitor is a tool from Microsoft that simply monitors what processes are running on your PC.  It is available here:
