And like, i bought sonar feb 2015, it was only a month or two ago that i was introduced to the community forum, and it was only a few weeks ago that i actually learnt who craig anderton was, point being is, when you are right at the beggining there is so much information to take in, and all you want to do is record your song, so you might even skip half the tutorials, so that guy who was me once also, the help module should be completely in your face like a big phat red STOP sign............

A big red stop sign. Nah. It would scream to members like me that sorta know Sonar. When I started out many years ago I read everything I could find on CW's Pro Audio. Before that I bought books on MIDI and read them. I still research things now mostly on the internet which was not around when I started. Everyone has their own style and way of doing things. What CW has tried very hard to do is keep those that are old hands and new users happy with a program that is very deep and powerful. They are never going to be perfect for both. None the less they do try.

The help Module was a recent addition aimed at new users. Yet it is also useful for the old hands around too.  I am very happy with Sonar. One huge reason is I have used many other DAWs over many years and have always been drawn to Sonar. It is in some ways simple and easy to use. It tends to work on a wide variety of machines and can do darn near everything I need done. The more you get to know Sonar and CW the better you will like them.

I have noticed in your posts your questions tend to have an edge to them. A bit like this is not a good way to do things. Thats OK to question the way things are. There could be no progress without that kind of questioning.  Yet to a degree certain things are the way they are for good reasons. That isn't aways apparent on first encounters. Some things are arbitrary that is done that way because thats the way its always been done. An example would be the Console View in Sonar. Its a virtual hardware mixer. It doesn't have to be a simulation of a real mixer. Yet for many using it as it is is easy for anyone coming from a hardware background. The logic and routing are very familiar and very easy to grasp if one has ever used a hardware mixer. CW choose to keep that model for those reasons. This also limits what the Console View is able to do. There is always a trade off somewhere. One area that helps mitigate this is the new Mix Recall. Check it out and see how really cool it is.  Keep in mind we are here to be of help for no pay or consideration. The membership thinks so highly of Sonar that they wish to share what they know.

Yeah, thanx, i really am very impressed with sonar, i love it actually.......ive only really just begun to excel in my knowledge at a faster rate because of these online forums........the customer service staff at cakewalk introduced me to this.......and i love very much.........Like another thread i posted, started out about zeta analogue synth, but it turned into my frustration of using click tracks..........the knowledge now of dragging audio to timeline to change the tempo map and the fit to improvisation feature is the best thing since sliced bread.....and yeah i bought craig andertons book of tips......and im just being helped so much my forum community........and yeah there is a link waiting for me to check out now from abacb on my other thread about mix recall.......Yeah mate im really excited about what sonar is capable of.......thats why i invested in lifetime updates, im literally planning on sticking with sonar for a long time........hopefully by the end of next year i will have produced a really good album.........like up until 2014, i was just a musician, who had an 8 track, and all i did was press record ,stop, play cut n paste punch record.....i didnt really care about production........So my whole world has changed through sonar, started with music creator 6, then bought sonar platinum, and reacently ive bought all the hardware, such as monitors, mixing desks, control surfaces, studio headphones,.......drum mics, and upgraded all my guitars, bass and drums to pro gear....cause i finally get the importance high quality sound products..........To produce a great production....Thanx john, i really appreciate everyones help in a big way.

Just a musician. I think that is the highest calling. You create something that only exists briefly yet can lift a person to hights previously unknown.  Just a musician, indeed!

Yeah sonar is just a tool at the end of the day for musicians, i joined a band a year and a half ago, because they had a great album........me as the drummer, didnt take me long to realise that besides the great vocalist, the rest of em really couldnt play there instruments very well at all, and especially the guy who apparently played drums on the album.......i realised that literally %90 of there takes were probably deleted, and cut and paste and other production techniques such as sequencing the drums etc was used to make make the album sound good..........So that really gave a huge introduction into production.......it can make bad musicians sound good, and it can make good musicians sound amazing................So i really drove the drums hard, and criticised them heaps, just basically cause i wanted them to sound as good as they did on the album.......And so we got to our 1st gig......sound was ****, and again i realised these guys had no idea how to set up sound for a live show either..........So next gig we had, i took it on board to set up the entire band, mic everyone up, eq ,mix the sound......and as a result they and everyone was like, wow it sounds great!!!.......which again another gig next week........i refuse just to play and not have good sound, i bought a beringer UFX1604 mixer.........records 16 tracks simultaneously to either a flash drive usb or to your laptop.......So yeah will be tidying it up with sonar later....and my main objective is to use this as lesson/exercise so i can record my own stuff better.......i recently purchased Addictive triggers, so im keen to try that stuff out

Notice the OP didn't ask for help on the Help VIEW, but on the Help Module . For long time users it is obvious that it is a View , not so for newcomers. As I was looking at my track screen I was thinking just how confusing it must be to a new user. Cakewalk did include a Basic entry in the Lenses. I would that would be the default, although my default Lense was Mix. Seems like that would defeat the purpose of the Basic entry if a new user needed to understand the Lenses menu system in order to pick Basic.

Yes exactly.....a entry level person is the most likely candidate to need the help module......it should be the number one thing advertised as you download sonar in command centre.......but yes it is only a new feature, so it might evolve some more

And actually i have no idea what the lense menu system is?.......i know the help module came out around may this year cause that was when the craig anderton utube video i saw was shot,......and i actually had the previous years version of platinum up until last week when i bought lifetime updates..........so the help module wouldnt have been on my computer until last week anyway........So please fill me in, "lense menu that craig anderton has put a lot of time into"Where? How??What?

Lenses menu....upper right corner has a kinda of camera lenses icon. Since the menu is white text on black background, opposite of the menus on the left, it might be hard to determine that it is a menu.
