hi everyone, i need to change the tempo gradually in a song, what i do is start a drum track with superior drummer then go from there. i want to start at one speed then increase then slow down. think, i hate to say it, stairway to heaven.
can someone point me to a tutorial or video that explains this.
thank you all.

Since you're using Superior Drummer and it's MIDI, choose Project > Insert Series of Tempos. This will work great for MIDI but if you have audio already recorded and want it to follow along, that's a separate and thornier subject.

Assuming the project is still all-MIDI, you can either draw tempo changes with the mouse (View > Tempo), or use Project > Insert Series of Tempos to get perfect linear changes.

One thing I would mention is that you don't need tempo changes to happen at a finer resolution than the smallest note interval/duration in the performance. To this end, you should enable snap at the matching note duration when drawing in the tempo view or calculate how many steps are needed when inserting a series to get the matching resolution.

thank you both for your advice, i usually answer faster but my email is having issues.
anyway, my plan is to record a scratch guitar and vox track with superior drummer, then, when i get most of the fills and things where i want them with the tempo changes in the drums, then i rerecord the audio hopefully with the tempo changes.
i do have a question about "drawing" the tempo changes in MIDI. i can not draw the line as straight as i need to.
what i have tried is, draw the line where i want the change to begin and end then go to the event list and change each separate event. needless to say this is mind numbing, there has to be a better way.
this is the first time i've attempted this, so please bear with my denseness.
thanks again

In this situation I would use Project > Insert Series of Tempos.

Let SONAR draw them for you

I don't do much tempo 'drawing', but IIRC, you can use the Line mode of the Draw tool in the tempo view to draw linear changes.

Personally, I prefer to record a live performance with natural tempo variations, and then snap the timeline to the performance using Set Measure/Beat At Now. Accurately playing along to pre-defined tempo changes is difficult.
