A few years ago I asked about methods for speeding a song up and Craig Anderton offered an excellent method for doing this with Ctrl+click+drag. I tried it again recently and it no longer works. All it does now is shorten the end of the clip. I'm using the latest version Of Sonar Platinum. I've done a search to see if there is any updated information regarding this method, but have found nothing. Is there a new step that I'm missing? I need to be able to speed songs up without changing the pitch.

I believe that Ctrl was replaced with Shift a few months back. Does Shift+drag on the clip end work?

I just tried it using Shift, but that doesn't work either. I even tried holding both Ctrl +Shift down with no success.

According to http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=NewFeatures.022.html should be CTRL+SHIFT and drag edge of clip

I've tried that also, but still no success.

Edited to add: I only need to do this with a single stereo mixdown track, not the whole project.

The shortcut was changed from CTRL+DRAG to CTRL+SHIFT+DRAG, it's working here, if it's not for you there must be something else going on. Is the clip locked or frozen?

No, it's not frozen, and I don't think it's locked (not sure what that is). It's the mixed down stereo track from using Bounce to Tracks. I've been selecting it (highlighted) then trying the CTRL+SHIFT+DRAG trick, but it only rolls the clip back and cuts off the ending.

EDIT: Never mind. the problem is solved (thanks to you guys). I was assuming that because it was cutting off the ending that it wasn't working since it didn't do that before, but when released the "clicked" mouse the ending reappeared with the shortened track intact. Thanks to everyone for helping me with this.

Now I need to know the trick for marking the title of this thread as solved.

Just open your first post and add "solved" in the title.

you do have to drag from the bottom half of the clip edge, btw, but ctrl+shift should time stretch your clip

[edit] I was wrong, you can drag from anywhere with ctrl+shift and it stretches the clip - however the wave form doesn't look like it is being stretched until you release the mouse button after stretching
