Sorry, so ive selected the region and the [ red dot ] symbol is selected and my track is armed.....yet i cant press record button, it wont let me......so i just pressed play, assuming it would automatically record once it got inside red punched region......but nope......i know this is something really simple guys, sorry...please help me out?

Did you set you punch in and punch out points?  There should be a section in your control bar at the top that allows you set the punch in and punch out points.

Yeah...i set the punch in and out points......it creates a red region...i did it through the punch drop down menu, and then if i go into preferences....yes the in and out points are set, and punch recording is set to on

'it won't let me' means you click the Record button in the Transport module, and the Now time doesn't start moving? What about hitting 'R' on your PC keyboard?
 
I can't really think of anything that would prevent recording in any mode except a problem with the interface driver being in a bad state or the UI not responding to the mouse.

Ok thanks chuck and co......i was'nt doing anything wrong it seems......but there was some type of sonar glitch/part crash maybe.............yep i was doing exactly what your video showed chuckous, for some reason the record button froze before......i did it exactly the same this time thing and the record button didnt freeze....it worked........So the answer to this thread is "It didnt work because my computer had a poltgeist!!!"
