  • Any Way To Save Track Templates WITHOUT Bus Routing Information?

Hello Everyone,

I would like to setup some track templates without bus routing information.  I want my track template to route to the default bus of whatever project I have.  Right now when I insert a track template, it also inserts the busses from the original track which may not be needed in the current track I am in.

Thank You,
Adam

Pop them into a new project.  Delete the buses you don't want, set up the routing to the default bus the way you want them to instantiate in the future ... then resave the templates.

It's a catch22.  Sometimes people want the bus setup, sometimes they don't.  Some folks use a bogus track routed to a set of buses and use the track template as a bus template, deleting the track once they bring the template into a project.

Don't select the busses when you save the template - template becomes what is selected.

On your description it sounded like you saved busses that are not needed when used as template.
Make different templates.

Some people may have Master bus also called Master where everything goes through, some don't.
Some just assume first audio out pair is you default.
Or do they have hardware setups in Sonar now - where you mark what is default?

As I recall some daws, like ProTools, have ability to select what is recalled.
You can pick just parts of a template(or session data in PT, track archive in Cubase, or just pick anything from an old project also in Cubase).

But overall, I think track templates are better implemented in Sonar. What they might be able to add is holding Ctrl when inserting a template if you want a dialog that uncheck certain things.

Actually I did not select the bus when saving the track template.  I simply right click the track I want to use and click "create track template".  There is no properties window that comes up.  I almost feel like their used to be.
