  • Issue with X3 vs Platinum plugins

When I open either X3 or Platinum, it automatically runs a plugin scan.   And the number of plugins is the same in both:  329.
In X3, all the plugins are there.   But in Platinum, I can't find most of them.   I go to the FX box on the left in a track, right click to bring up the VST plugins, but only a handful are there.    I did a rescan a while back, and it says all the plugins are there, but clearly they're not.
Is there a different way to find plugins in Platinum?   Am I missing something?

Thanks!
Greg

Maybe the programs are using different plug-in layouts. There was a significant change in the new SONAR regarding layout options a few releases back.

Not sure what that means.

The layout options are at the top of the plug-in menu
The new features are documented here http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=SONAR&language=3&help=NewFeatures.024.html

Open the Plugin Manager and check the number of plugins listed there. If they are all there then they're probably sorted differently in Sonar as scook suggested. You can change the layouts so they are the same in each version, I think. If they are not all there then something's going on.

I know the plugins are there somewhere because I have plugins on my tracks that don't show up anywhere else.   I'll check this all out in Sonar tomorrow.

Thanks, guys!

Maybe after you get it all sorted out , you might want to disable scan on startup option.

I read somewhere to have it scan at startup.   Why would disabling it be beneficial?

Thanks!

I looked at the link scook provided.   I don't have Media, Plugins, Synth at the top of my browser.    I'll have to watch some Platinum tutorials.

Thanks!

The plug-ins tab is the one that is important to this thread. Moreover, ALL the plug-in menus have a layout section at the top of them, including the one you are describing in the OP.
