Hello,

I used Sonar X1 and now Artist. Maybe I don't know where to look, but I can't find an 'insert beat'. Making a song is sometimes like making a text. You come up with something you can put somewhere between the existing lines. You can make room for as much lines you want.
I did make several songs and thinking up something new for somewhere in between, brings a lot of work by scrolling, cutting and shifting tracks. Just to make room for some new beats. Sometimes those things go terribly wrong.

Please tell me where to find the command 'insert/take away/move beats' or make it happen in an up-date very soon. I would be most gratefull....

You can insert a measures or units of time via Project>Insert Time/Measures ...

I think this FR would be a useful add to the menu Bob shows above. If the project is (say) 7/8 time at 960 pqn/tqn and the user wanted to insert to make room for 2 beats, it would require some math to insert the number of ticks equal to 2/7 of a measure (in this case 960). The currently favoured approach would be to split at time and move everything after setting snap resolution to match the project's time sig. But this can be finicky.
Being able to add (and remove!!) beats would be useful, IMO.

Yeah, you can insert measure and ticks in that dialog, I don't know why you can't insert beats. Personally I only ever use it to insert measures so I won't be voting this up, but it would make sense.
