Hello,

I wanna buy the Avid Artist Mix and Artist Transport to manage Sonar Platinum under Windows 8.1. Anyone who works successfully with this stuff ? Other users reported problems.

Really noone? Maybe in other configurations / EUCON-Hardware? (X3 / Windows 7 etc.)

I've wondered this myself, they look really nice, but Avid is such a walled garden most of the time it makes me wonder if they're likely to get behind serious support for other DAWs.

I think you're right and maybe the plugin by azslow3 will help:

But I don't buy such expensive stuff and then maybe it will work or maybe not ...

Artist Mix is an 8-fader control surface that offers greater speed and control than a mouse when mixing audio in any EUCON-enabled audio or video application

It requires EUCON-enabled software....

Karyn: Yes, you´re right. The Artist Mix is no midi-module. My mistake ... So I think the Artist Mix is a no go for Sonar Platinum Users ... sounds bad

According to the documentation Sonar supports the Euphonix Eucon control protocol. Or is that something entirely different?

I reviewed the Artist Series several years ago, and it worked fine with SONAR (which does support EUCON). However, I don't know if there have been any changes over the years that broke anything...I can probably borrow a controller to find out.

Hey Craig,
that would be very, very nice. I hesitate to buy one, cause other users had problems with this scenario. I need someone, who has an Avid Artist Mix and/or Artist Transport and Sonar Platinum working fine together with all functions under Windows 8.1 (drivers?) and says: yes, it works ...

Sorry,  I wasn't trying to say it wouldn't work, only that it's not midi like just about every other controller out there and so doesn't come under the standard "If I play with it enough I should be able to get it to work" scenario.

Sonar is EUCON enabled, but I have no idea of compatibility with Avid controllers, or even if there would/should be a compatibility issue..
