Anderton, no stress, I went for the Behringer X-touch instead for now, just got it and basic stuff seems to work so far...
Thanks anyway

Thanks for following up, I'm still going to test it out at some point thought because this question pops up periodically...and the Artist Series are classy controllers

Anybody tried recently ?

Synaptic
Yes - I use An Artist Mix & control every day & can't live without faders.
The basic functions work fine ( record enable, faders, mute, solos, automation modes, banking nudging, hot keys etc.)
Sonar's Eucon support hasn't been updated for a while so there are a number of functions that don't work including Pro Channel.
If you want to try it out, get the free Eucon Control app for iPad ( assuming you have an ipad)

Just noticed this thread tonight.  I had been enjoying an Avid Artist Mix since January of 2014 with Sonar X3 on Windows 7.  Very responsive interface and great to be able to actually touch the faders while you're adding automation to your mix!

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 and Sonar Platinum.  Unfortunately, I cannot seem to get Sonar Platinum to recognize Artist Mix even though the EuControl program is running and is aware of the Artist Mix hardware.

Can anyone offer guidance as to how I can get Sonar Platinum on Windows 10 (64 bit) to recognize the Artist Mix hardware and EuControl service?

Thank you in advance,
Geff

I found a Knowledge Base article on the Eucon SW plug-in for Sonar X1 here: http://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013271/EUCON-Control-Surface-Support-for-SONAR-X1

I installed the plug-in.  I am now able to see "Eucon Controller" when I try to add a surface under Edit | Preferences | MIDI Control Surfaces | Control Surface Settings | Controller / Surface dropdown.  However, still no response from the Artist Mix hardware so Sonar is not yet talking to it.  Is there an updated plug-in required for Sonar Platinum?  What am I missing?

Appreciative of any available guidance,
Geff

Community,
I haven't received any replies to this post and no replies from Cakewalk's Email support.
Is there anyone out there that has an Avid Artist Mix working with Sonar Platinum on a Windows 10 environment?
Wondering if I should sell the Artist Mix and purchase a more compatible surface.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Geff

I've finally had a chance to sort out various studio thingies, and have been working with the Artist Series Mix all day using 64-bit Windows 10, and 64-bit SONAR Platinum. My experience is basically the same as Synaptic.

I'm going to work with it a while more and write up a full report of what works, what doesn't work, and what sorta works for next week's Friday's Tip of the Week. Meanwhile, make sure you have the latest version of EuCon control (3.4.1) and that you've updated the firmware. It's working fine here with Windows 10; for Ethernet, I've been going into a switcher and it's been reliable/stable.

I will say this is one of those situations where I thought things weren't working, so I poked around and tried a bunch of different and lo and behold, everything worked. Remember that it does take some time for the controller to recognize your system.

More to come next week, but not sure I can offer any specific advice on how to get it working with SONAR Platinum.

Update: I've been doing a lot of work with this to find out what makes the Artist Series Mix happy. The net is littered with people who have issues with it and Windows/Pro Tools. However, when I power things on in the correct order (router if applicable, controller, computer), and after SONAR has booted, right-click on the EuCon icon in the system tray and choose "Restart EUCON Application," it seems to work reliably. Details/more on Friday when I do the tip.
