I just downloaded this xpand2 - strictly for 64bit, but am unable to get sounds out of it, it seems to transmit midi, but no sound - I had tech support call me just now, to no avail
You had Tech support call you for Xpand2 ?
There is probably a mixed bag going on. Sonar 8 is not supported for windows 8 or 10.
and the support requirements for Xpand2 doesn't list Sonar at all, never mind Sonar.
Notes:
PC: VST64 is qualified for Cubase 6 (64-bit) and Ableton Live 9 (64-bit).
Mac: VST64 is qualified for Cubase 6 (64-bit) and Ableton Live 9 (64-bit). AU64 is qualified for Logic X (64-bit).
What is your OS ?
Hey chucke, Xpand!2 works just great in Sonar. After TTS-1, it is probably the best, cheapest, go-to, multi-timbral synth available. Using it here on Platinum x64 ... it is 64-bit only, so I do wonder if the older Sonar version could be an issue?
Maybe the OP could download a more current demo version of Sonar to test with, for comparison?
It's been years since I ran 8, and only have the 8.5 installer handy, but it's not installed. The only other thing I have onboard now is X3 32-bit, for those pesky 'ol 32 bit plugins ...
Of course, there is always the demo of Reaper x64, one could try ... I have Xpand!2 working in that
To the best of my recollection, Sonar 8 was released during the Windows XP days. AIR lists a 64-bit host app as a requirement for the Xpand!2 plugin.
EDIT: I see that Sonar has been available as a native 64-bit host since Sonar 4. So the question of Windows compatibility for that older version of Sonar on a newer Windows OS may be at play here ...
