I know we've discussed this but search is not helping.  An old problem has come back.  I open a Kontakt instrument and as soon as the track starts playing, the volume slide in Kontakt jumps down to a very low level.  There are no controller messages in the track.

Did we solve this and, if so, what was the solution?

Thanks

PS This is affecting all of the Scarbee basses, but it hits other instruments sometimes.

Hey Konrad, I've seen this happen when there is a MIDI track routed to Kontakt. If the fader on the associated MIDI track has, at any point, been moved it will "set" the level for the volume fader on a Kontakt instrument. From that point on whenever you start playback the volume fader on the instrument will jump to whatever level the MIDI track fader is at. You can stop that by right-clicking on the MIDI track fader and checking "Disable Control".

Hope that helps

Preferences - Project - MIDI - Zero Controllers When Plays Stops (uncheck this box). This a "project" option, not program setting. i.e for this to work at all future projects, you want to keep this setting to default template. For already existing projects will have to unchek the box manually for each.

I found myself having issues with Kontakt and Battery doing similar things, and it seems that both products by default have instrument settings that tie together an instrument's master volume to input from standard controller messages - like from the faders.

So, what I did was to go into the instrument settings in Kontakt (the wrench), then click on Instrument Options, then click on Controller, and make sure to remove the check from the box for the parameter labelled Accept Standard Controllers for Volume and Pan.

Once the above is done, I save the instrument with that change, and it will remain that way any future time that instrument is loaded.  Same sort of thing with Battery.

I do not know if this method is better than disabling something in Sonar or not.  It DOES work for me, and I routinely do it for NI products.  Now when I adjust a Kontakt instrument volume, or change a fader in Sonar, it no longer changes when I start playback again.
